mindset of a blogger

Get this: the most important thing when it comes to building a successful blog is something you have complete control of.

It determines whether your blog will thrive or flop, whether you’ll sink or swim, and whether you’ll stand out or blend in with the crowd…

This powerful thing is your mindset.

Having the right mindset is so invaluable and can have a real impact on your blog and your life. When harnessed correctly, your mindset is one of the strongest tools you have in your inventory.

Here at the Blogging Fast Lane, we believe that cultivating the right mindset is one of the most crucial things you need to do in order to successfully grow your blog.

From our own personal experience with mindset, Tom and I have seen firsthand the effect that it has on our lives and our businesses.

When we first started our blog Adventure In You in 2015, we had absolutely no idea what we were doing.

Sure, we had read articles, watched videos, and had a general sense of how to set something up, but making it our full-time job? How were we going to do that?

We spent months, which turned into years, trying everything we could to grow our blog. Some things worked while others completely failed.

We had countless nights spent working until the wee hours of the morning, only to have to wake up after two hours to go to our 9-to-5 jobs.

Despite all the hard work we put in, it was only when we changed the way we were thinking about our blog that we began seeing real results.

Our mindset change was one of the key ingredients that propelled us to persevere and work smarter to build what has now turned into one of the top 25 travel blogs in the world.

That’s why we came up with the Fast Lane Mindset.

We wanted to share the key to what helped us transform our business and kept us going, ultimately helping us achieve success.

But beyond that, Tom and I know that once you take the time to apply these mindset shifts, your life will drastically improve as they are things that can be applied to all areas of your life.

If we can do it, so can you. And trust me, you’ll be glad you did.

What is Mindset?

There are thousands of studies on the power of mindset. This body of research, from an academic standpoint, combines science and medicine and proves in real terms why mindset matters…

But there’s a simple example that illustrates the importance of mindset that I like a little better.

When I was a little girl, one of my favorite books was “The Little Engine That Could”. I’d beg my mom and dad to read it to me almost every night before going to sleep, paging through the colorful pictures of a train filled with toys on a railroad track.

If you’re not familiar with “The Little Engine That Could”, it’s a wonderful story about a train that is on its way to deliver toys and breaks down. He asks other passing trains for help but is ignored.

So he finally says to himself “I think I can…” and starts to huff and puff while saying this phrase over and over again.

“I think I can… I think I can…” he repeats until he is finally rumbling along back on track.

By repeating to himself “I think I can” over and over, the train put himself in the mindset of being able to achieve what he thought was impossible.

And although it’s a children’s story, I think it really shows the power of mindset when it comes to getting where you want to go and achieving something great.

So what exactly is a mindset?

The dictionary definition of mindset is “the established set of attitudes held by someone”.

Basically, this means that a mindset is a person’s way of thinking, their frame of mind and inclination towards certain things.

A mindset is a whole host of beliefs that shape your habits, thoughts. and behaviors.

It literally means your mind is set on something!

So when the little engine set his mind on delivering the toys, his mind was so powerful that it enabled him to continue on.

We’ve all heard coaches,  motivational speakers, and self-help books talking about mindsets and how incredibly important they are…

Is it a bunch of mumbo jumbo?

No way!

Your mindset is something very real and very powerful that has the ability to either lead you to great success or terrible failure.

If you want proof besides a heartfelt children’s story, Dr. Alia Crum, a researcher who studies changes in subjective mindsets, has an amazing TedTalk about the power of mindsets, based on studies on medicine, exercise, diet, stress and more.

She highlights that through changing your mindset, you’re actually able to alter physical outcomes as well.

You can watch the full talk below.

Your mindset makes an enormous difference when it comes to so many things in your life, from health to diet to self-esteem — and yes, to blogging success too!

Because of the highly influential nature of mindsets, we found that the way you think and perceive things can’t be ignored when it comes to starting, growing, and building a successful blog.

Why Having the Right Mindset is Crucial for Blogging Success

Having the right mindset is everything when it comes to blogging success. In fact, we think it’s so crucial that it’s the very first thing we teach in our Blogging Fast Lane course!

People start blogs for loads of different reasons. Some start them to share their skills or expertise, expand their hobby, or simply take pleasure in writing and publishing articles.

However, if you’re reading this, you’re probably looking for a little more from your blog.

I can guess that you want to morph your blog into more than just something you do for fun.

Perhaps into a business that earns you actual income. Perhaps a space where you can make an impact on other people’s lives.

Maybe you have dreams of taking up blogging full-time to leave your 9-to-5 job so you can actually start doing the things that you love.

Or maybe you simply want to earn a side income to be able to spend on family holidays and activities.

money mindset

No matter what kind of end result you’re looking for, the way you think about your blog is super important.

If you step away from the mindset of “blogging is just my hobby” or “only my family will read what I post”, you’re opening yourself up to something much bigger.

When Tom and I changed our mindset from “we run a travel blog” to “we run a successful blogging business”, we made the conscious shift to start thinking about our blog in a different way.

Because the reality is, there’s a huge difference between blogging for fun and blogging for business.

When we started to think about our blog as a business, we realized we needed to be more strategic and more purposeful about everything we did. Instead of just posting about our travels and our lives, we had to actually find ways to provide value to our audience and help solve their unique problems.

Thinking about our blog as a successful business had an effect on our thoughts and daily habits. It became obvious that we needed resources and time to grow our blog.

It also affected the way we talked about and worked on our blog. We became more confident when pitching to brands and began to work more purposefully on producing valuable content.

And the thing is, once we started to view our blog through this new mindset, everything started to change!

“In just the blink of an eye we can change the game of any facet of our life quite simply by changing our mindset.” – Dr. Alia Crum

We became clear about our goals, focused on the things that really made a difference, started to see our motivation rise… and best of all? We were beginning to see results that we didn’t think were possible!

While we weren’t working any harder than we were before, we were working smarter.

As our mindset strengthened, so did our business — proving to us how important a component a mindset is when it comes to blogging.

What is the Fast Lane Mindset?

We developed the Fast Lane Mindset based on our own personal experience and what we think made the most impact on our business.

These principles are really what empowered us to believe we could turn blogging into a full-time job and helped transform our blog into a business.

They are also the same set of principles that we share with our students and remind them of on a daily basis.

The Fast Lane Mindset is what we full-heartedly believe makes successful bloggers who run successful businesses.

Once Tom and I switched our mindset in this direction, we became more focused on doing the right things for our blog… and over time, as our efforts compounded, we began to see traffic increase and our income started to go through the roof!

But more than anything, by sticking with the Fast Lane Mindset, our blog grew into what we had always dreamed of…

Actually, it was beyond our wildest dreams!

And that’s the power of having the right mindset.

Corny, I know, but it’s so true. Once you shift your mindset, everything else begins to shift with it too.

The core of the Fast Lane Mindset are the following (say it with me now!):

  • I strive for SUCCESS
  • I stay FOCUSED
  • I create PASSIVE INCOME
  • I do it with PASSION

No matter what niche you’re working in, we believe that this is a strong foundation for a successful business mindset for every Fast Lane Blogger.

Here’s a deep dive into each of the components of the Fast Lane Mindset.

Mindset #1: I Strive for Success

The first component of the Fast Lane Mindset is striving for success.

When starting something new, it’s natural to have doubts… But these doubts can turn into roadblocks that stand in your way of moving forward.

At some point, all bloggers wonder if their blog is going to be a success or not, but the ones who are able to bypass this doubt and fear of failure are the ones who end up making it in the long run.

I remember when we first started Adventure In You; I was so stressed and overwhelmed that it was difficult to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Success? What’s that? So far, I wasn’t seeing any results.

Plus there were sooo many other travel blogs out there… How could we possibly stand out?

It was hard to stay focused and keep working towards our goal of building a business from our blog because I was so wrapped up in my own thoughts.

But I just needed to get out of my head!

Through persevering and actually focusing on the work I needed to do, I was able to grow my confidence by taking action and began to feel better about what we were doing.

Creating a Mindset for Success with Success Mantras

One of the things that really helped me embrace success was replacing my doubts with success mantras, which ultimately led to my and Adventure In You’s success.

It’s totally common to think things like “What if I fail?” or “What if people laugh at my blog?”. But the trick is to replace these doubts with success mantras that will keep you moving forward.

So what exactly is a success mantra?

Well, instead of thinking doubtful things like “What if I fail?”, flip it around and change your perspective into something positive.

Turn it into “I will not fail because I will not quit”.

By doing this, you’re addressing your fears and putting your dreams above your doubts… Win!

And the best part is, you can create a success mantra out of almost any doubt, fear, or “what if”.

Here are some common doubts that bloggers face and how you can flip them around:

Doubtful ThoughtsSuccess Mantras
What if I fail?I will not fail because I will not quit, I’ll work hard, be strategic, and constantly work on my goals.
What if people laugh at me?I won’t let other people’s opinions stop me from pursuing my passion and reaching my goals.
What if no one reads my blog?If I can help even just one person with valuable information, I will be happy.
What if I don’t have anything valuable to share with others?I’m doing myself and others a disservice if I don’t share my knowledge and experiences.

When you change your “what ifs” to success mantras, you’ll be able to bypass your insecurities and fear of failure.

Through this process, you’re not only striving for success, but facing your fears and figuring out ways to move past them…

Talk about a double whammy!

In a leading study on mindsets by Carol S. Dweck, she explains the type of people who succeed in business, saying: “These were not the larger-than-life, charismatic types who oozed ego and self-proclaimed talent. They were the self-effacing people who constantly asked questions and had the ability to confront the most brutal answers – that is, to look failures in the face, even their own, while maintaining faith that they would succeed in the end.”

So to succeed, you don’t have to be the loudest, the most charismatic or the most talented.

You simply have to acknowledge that there are going to be fears, hardships, and roadblocks… and then be able to move past this by maintaining the mindset that you will overcome them.

Deal with Roadblocks by Shifting Your Mindset

Self-doubt is just one kind of roadblock when it comes to blogging… Trust me, I’ve run into them all at this point.

Some other common roadblocks you may encounter are things like:

  • Lack of time
  • Feeling discouraged by bigger bloggers in your niche
  • Having difficulty finding keywords
  • Not seeing progress

… the list goes on and on!

Let me just start by saying, these roadblocks are normal

At one point or another, every single blogger has experienced obstacles and challenges along the way. This is completely natural.

However, it’s what you do when faced with a roadblock that will make or break your path to success.

Some bloggers choose to give in to challenges and give up, letting effort decrease as more roadblocks arise.

But the ones who are able to shift their mindset and look at their obstacles from a different perspective are the ones who are able to continue striving for success.

When it comes to facing roadblocks, the first thing you should do is accept that it is normal. And once you’ve done that, we suggest reframing the problem in a way that motivates you to keep going.

Here are some examples for you:

RoadblockMindset Shift
I don’t have time.I need to prioritize working on my blog so I can achieve time freedom.
Competition in my niche is tough.Since so many people have succeeded in this niche, it means there’s a huge demand for what I’m doing.
I can’t find any keywords to rank for.Keyword research is a skill I’m learning and developing to grow my blog.
I’m not seeing any progress.Blogging is not a sprint… What I’m doing now will have a compound effect later.

Can you see the difference between the two columns?

On one hand, you have these problems that seem impossible to solve, but on the other, you’ve reframed the situation in a way that provides reassurance and solutions for the obstacle you’re facing.

Having a success mindset is how you’re able to get past obstacles and challenges, and is also what motivates you to keep going!

The ability to shift your mindset is what sets Fast Lane Bloggers apart from the rest… and it’s what ultimately leads to your success.

If you’re having trouble completely flipping your mindset around, think about changing one word first.

In Atomic Habits: Tiny Changes, Remarkable Results by James Clear, he makes the case for changing the phrasing around your tasks to increase motivation.

He tells us that by doing this, “you transition from seeing these behaviors as burdens and turn them into opportunities.”

Tom and I tried this, and saw a tremendous difference in how it affected our mindsets.

Instead of thinking “I have to work on my blog”, start thinking of it as “I get to work on my blog.”

Or change your thoughts from “I have to start a blog from scratch” to “I get to start a blog from scratch.”

With a single word change, your mindset surrounding what you have to do shifts completely!

Mindset #2: I Stay Focused

Let’s face it, sitting on your laptop all day, it’s hard not to drift down the rabbit holes of distractions and doubt.

With millions of bloggers online, it’s easy to begin questioning why your blog isn’t like theirs or if you’ll ever be able to reach where they are…

But if you stay focused and keep your eyes on the prize, you’ll be one step closer every single day.

Staying focused is one of the most important parts of turning your business into a blog and it’s central to the Fast Lane Mindset!

Always Remember Your Why

Take a second to think back to why you wanted to start a blog. Was it to make money? To pursue something you’re passionate about? To have freedom, flexibility, or all of the above?

Whatever that why may be, identifying it and holding it close will help you stay focused on the big picture.

“When the WHY is clear, the HOW becomes easy.” – Jim Rohn

The wild truth is that in 2019 there were more than 500 million blogs on the internet. And as you may have guessed, only a small fraction of those are actually successful businesses.

The people who succeed in the blogging world are the ones who are passionate about what they’re doing and motivated to keep on pushing, even without seeing immediate results.

Early on, while Tom and I were working on Adventure In You, it was hard to ignore the fact that there were thousands (if not a million) of other blogs centered around travel.

But what we quickly realized is that not everyone was committed to their travel blogs the way we were.

While at that time we were hardly making more than $200 a month, we knew WHY we were doing what we were doing.

And we believed that if we continued to stay focused and worked towards our goals, we would be able to achieve time freedom while being able to profit from something we’re passionate about – our Why in the first place.

Believing so strongly in our Why is what got us through the tough times. It’s what enabled us to keep on pushing on even when things looked bleak.

Our Why sat at the center of everything we did (and everything we continue to do today), giving us the focus and determination to keep on working towards having a successful blogging business.

And the thing is, we’re not alone in this!

Check out some of the most successful and popular blogs on the internet and you’ll quickly realize that those bloggers are also driven by passion, leading to their focus and ultimate success.

And if we can do it, you can too.

Set SMART Goals

One of the best ways to stay focused is by setting clear goals. This is something that we believe in so firmly in Blogging Fast Lane!

With clear goals, you always know exactly what you’re working towards, making it easy to stay focused.

Besides the big goal of building a successful business from your blog, having actionable smaller goals are important too. Setting goals that you can actually achieve will motivate you to continue striving towards the big picture one step at a time!

One of our mottos is to work smarter, not harder and this totally applies to setting and reaching your goals, too.

We like to follow the SMART goal framework because we think it gives you the greatest chance of success.

SMART goals are:

  • Specific – How can you clearly define what you want to accomplish?
  • Measurable – How can you measure progress towards the goal and its success?
  • Attainable – Can the goal actually be achieved? Is it realistic?
  • Relevant – Is the goal relevant to your Why and long-term vision? Does it also align with your other goals?
  • Timely – In what time frame are you planning to hit the goal?

Here are some examples of SMART goals versus normal goals:

Normal GoalSMART Goal
I want to be a successful blogger and earn money!I want to earn $500 from my blog through brand partnerships and sponsored content in 6 months.
I want my blog to be popular!I want to grow my blog readership to 10,000 pageviews in 12 months.
I’ll work on my blog whenever I have free time.I want to work for two hours in my free time after dinner every night.

Because SMART goals are so specific, they can easily guide your actions and help you measure success, all of which will put you on the path to success.

Another great tip for setting goals is to write them down! Doing this allows you to track your progress and hold yourself accountable.

Plus, nothing feels better than crossing a completed goal off your list.

Every quarter, Tom and I, together with our team, sit down and decide on goals for the coming months and then break them down into weekly goals.

Whenever we’re working on something, we think, “right, how is this related to my goal and will it help me achieve it?”

Will fiddling around designing my new blog and choosing brand colors help me get 10,000 page views?

No, it won’t. Because in reality, I am better off focusing my time on creating amazing content which will actually help me achieve my goal.

So many beginner bloggers spend weeks trying to find the perfect theme, testing different layouts and focusing on the appearance of their blog way more than actually crafting the blog’s content.

So whenever you find yourself drifting and losing focus, think of your goals and refocus your tasks.

Having clear goals driven by your Why is one of the best ways to stay focused and achieve what you actually want to with your blog.

Avoid Shiny Ball Syndrome

While goals are powerful, their kryptonite is shiny ball syndrome.

It’s like when you take your dog for a walk and – SQUIRREL!!

He pulls you off track… and next thing you know you’re being dragged into the bushes in the opposite direction.

Basically, it’s when you think you should be doing this or that and getting distracted by random things that you may think are important…  but ultimately aren’t related to your goals.

You may see a “shiny ball” beckoning you (come on, who doesn’t love shiny things), but more likely than not, it’s leading you down a road further away from where you want to be.

You may get tempted to start writing about a trip you just did or a recipe that you just tried. Or maybe you saw another blog in your niche publish a new article on a topic you’re interested in.

Soon… rather than following the content plan and tasks that you set out to do, you find yourself drifting and losing focus.

While this is only one example of shiny ball syndrome, just remember that everything you do should be aligned with your goals. When in doubt, revisit what you’ve laid out (which is why it’s so important they’re written down) and get yourself back on track!

Don’t Fall Into the Social Media Trap

One of the most common ways bloggers lose focus is by diving headfirst into social media rather than focusing efforts on their blog. We call this “the social media trap”.

I know how tempting it can be to curate a gorgeous Instagram feed and start a Facebook page for your blog, but trust me, this won’t help towards your long-term goal of building a successful business… at least not in the beginning.

When we first started Adventure In You, I spent hours planning out our Instagram, building out our Facebook page, Twitter, and even dabbled with Snapchat.

While we grew a decent following from these efforts and were getting tons of likes, no one was actually going to our blog!

Spending so much time on social media was a waste because while maybe we were “Insta-famous”, our traffic wasn’t increasing — and neither were our profits.

When you’re first starting out, social media can be alluring, but don’t fall into the trap!

Wait until you (and your blog) are ready and then choose one (just one!) platform to focus on and build an audience there.

We tell our students that rather than spreading themselves thinly across multiple social media platforms, they are better off identifying where their ideal audience avatar hangs out and work towards growing their presence in that platform.

For example, if you are a food blog, Pinterest is GREAT for recipes and getting traffic. Focus on this rather than simultaneously trying to grow your Facebook page, Twitter, and Instagram.

Mindset #3: I Create Passive Income

No matter who they are, where they’re from or what they blog about, all Fast Lane Bloggers are in the mindset of creating passive income.

Why is this?

Because passive income is the key to freedom, flexibility, and bringing home the big bucks… without being tied to your computer at all hours.

It is the epitome of TRUE time freedom where you no longer trade time for money.

When Tom and I spent 3 weeks hiking to Everest Base Camp back in 2018, we were completely disconnected from the real world.

Although we tried our best to update our parents, the cell service got worse as we started to get higher.

When we returned to civilization after the trek, we sat there in complete awe as we stared at our computer screens.

We had earned over $12,000 from our blog while we were away.

Wait, what? We had just been off the grid for 3 weeks and we still have this kind of money coming in?

That’s when we realized we had unlocked the door to creating passive income with our blog and it’s what inspired us to keep working on our blog.

Through our carefully planned content on Adventure In You, we’ve been able to make this kind of money (and more) every single month, even when we aren’t working behind our computers.

We had put in the work at the beginning and now are able to sit back, relax, and watch the money roll in without doing anything

How wild is that? To continuously earn money even when we technically aren’t working… Talk about a dream job!

This is the kind of success we want for Fast Lane Bloggers too, which is why creating passive income is central to the Fast Lane Mindset.

But the thing is, passive income doesn’t happen overnight. It takes a while before you’ll reap the rewards, but so long as you’re strategic and constantly working on the things that really matter, good results will come.

Because what you’re doing at the beginning – those long hours of crafting content and all the little tasks that seem to mean nothing – will undergo the compound effect.

“What’s the compound effect, Anna?”

Taken from the book The Compound Effect by Darren Hardy, the concept is simple.

Hardy says that if you continuously do things consistently, you are able to reap huge rewards from small, seemingly insignificant actions because all of those will eventually add up (or compound) later on down the road.

Here’s a great video that put the compound effect in visual terms:

With blogging, you won’t see results immediately. But if you continue to diligently post great content and strategically build your Affiliate Machine, passive income will come.

It’s like the saying, “Rome wasn’t built in a day.”

I’m sure the ancient Roman laborers were sick and tired of building little by little, day in and day out. But while they couldn’t see it, each little task they were doing – each stone moved from one place to the next, each stack of dirt shoveled out of the way – when added up made a tremendous difference.

And after a while of slaving away over these little efforts, Rome started to form right before the worker’s eyes.

It’s the same thing with a blog!

In the first 6 to 12 months of blogging, you’re in the building stages. Like the Roman laborers, you’ll be putting in a lot of work, doing things that really matter… but chances are, you won’t see the results you’ve been dreaming of.

Yet.

It’s tough but, similar to the construction of Rome (minus the manual labor), it takes time to set the foundations and lay the starting stones before seeing an empire really take shape.

However (and here’s the important part), if you believe and have faith in the compound effect, all of the strategic efforts you’ve been doing will compound into massive results down the line.

However, the key word here is strategic.

If you want to see results, you need to make sure that the little actions that you do consistently are helping you work towards your goal, bit by bit, piece after little piece, until each of these small efforts add up.

One of the best things that one of our students ever said was this:

Mindset #4: I Do Everything With Passion

And for our final mindset principle, Fast Lane Bloggers do everything with passion.

This is at the core of what it means to be a Fast Lane Blogger because we believe in the value of everything we do.

This encompasses work ethic, productivity, and quality of the work produced. It surrounds your content, your relationships, and your daily life.

Doing it with passion sets Fast Lane Bloggers apart because you aren’t just going through the motions.

Everything you do is intentional — and that makes all the difference.

Our mission statement for Adventure in You is to inspire people to do more and live their life to the fullest, so they can create unforgettable memories.

Paired with the Blogging Fast Lane mission of helping 10,000 people profit from their passions and achieve time freedom through blogging, you can see that we are really passionate about what we do.

We’re obsessed with helping others reach the point that we’re at today and it’s been a huge guiding force behind what we do day to day.

We don’t emphasize making money (although that’s an awesome bonus to it) but rather being able to achieve time freedom which allows you to live life… on your own terms.

This is what we’re passionate about, this is our Why, and what drives Tom and me to work harder every single day.

Think back to your blogging why. Why have you decided to take this journey in the first place?

Whatever the answer may be, it’s your motivating factor to push forward with gusto and earnestness in building something from the ground up.

Like most other things, the choice of doing it with passion is a mindset.

While blogging may seem like a glamorous job from the outside, there are some tasks (and days!) that can be mundane and boring when it comes to building a blog. But if you can put your all into it, realize there’s value in what you’re doing, and do it with passion, it will shine through in the end result.

Because when you’re working on something you’re passionate about, when you’re creating a life centered around something that you love, the long hours are all worth it.

3 Tips for Cultivating the Mindset of a Fast Lane Blogger

The Fast Lane Mindset isn’t something that happens overnight.

Like with most things, it’s something you have to practice over and over until it becomes natural and effortless.

Here are some tips for cultivating the Fast Lane Mindset and how to harness it to keep pushing on and reach your dream of building a successful blogging business.

Have Constant Reminders Around You

The absolute best way to cultivate the mindset of a Fast Lane Blogger is to have constant reminders everywhere you go.

At the beginning of our course, all of our students sign a manifesto that lays out the principles of being a Fast Lane Blogger. We then encourage them to display it somewhere where they can see it constantly while they’re working.

We’ve even created screensavers with bits and pieces of the manifesto so our students are reminded of it whenever they pull out their phone!

By embedding constant reminders in daily life centered around what you’re striving towards, the mindset will begin to cultivate naturally with visual cues.

I mean let’s face it, if you see something over and over again every single day, you’re likely to give in eventually… Like me and the cookies sitting on my counter!

In all seriousness though, this stuff works. Write out what you want to achieve from blogging and the mindset that you want to have. Read it on a daily basis and you will see it start to become a part of who you are.

Celebrate Small Wins

Celebrating small wins is so important for putting yourself in a great mindset for building a blogging empire.

It’s really easy to be swept away by everything going on, but it’s important to take a step back and look at what you’ve achieved so far.

I remember when we made our very first affiliate sale after 6 months of blogging. I was simply ecstatic, dancing around the room, clapping my hands, smiling from ear to ear!

The sale was only for $30 and was spent the same night but still, it showed me that our efforts weren’t in vain… and that maybe we really could pull this off!

By celebrating small wins and reminding yourself that you are indeed accomplishing something (even if the results are small), you’ll see a huge difference in your mindset and productivity.

Even if it’s something as simple as setting your blog up, posting your first article or earning your first hundred bucks, it’s worth a pat on the back or a happy dance.

By reminding yourself of small successes, you’re improving your morale and boosting your energy so that you can keep on grinding.

In fact, Tom and I believe that this is so important that in our Fast Lane community, we have a win thread every month where everyone is able to share what they’ve accomplished, big or small.

Doing this not only builds confidence but is a great reminder that you are working towards something bigger. Know that even if you can’t see it right now, you’re well on your way to building your dream blogging business!

Remind Yourself of Your Why

More than anything, to cultivate the Fast Lane Mindset, you have to remember your Why!

I’ve said this over and over again, but keeping in mind what’s driving you to pursue a blogging business is the ultimate key to success. It will give you a reason strong enough to keep on pushing, even when times get tough.

Blogging isn’t easy. It’s not a get-rich-quick scheme and it takes a lot of work to build and grow a successful blog. But the payoffs are massive (both personally and financially), making all the struggles worth it.

And during the downtimes, during the periods where you’re experiencing self-doubt or struggling to overcome your fears, reminding yourself of your why is the most powerful tool to get you back on track.

When Tom and I first started blogging, there were so many days when I just felt like giving up. Nothing was going right, we weren’t seeing any results, and it seemed like nothing was going to get better.

But when I thought back to why I was doing this in the first place, I was able to push my doubts to the side and continue to strive for more.

I knew I was working hard for a life of freedom, flexibility, and the chance to work on something I’m passionate about from anywhere in the world… all while inspiring others to create unforgettable memories.

This kept us going and there isn’t one day where I am not grateful that we opted NOT to give up.

Recommended Books and Resources

As I wrap this up, here are some awesome books and resources for learning more about mindset and other bits and pieces I referenced in this article!
